What is important in logo design?
I’ve always erred on the side of simplicity. I agree with this approach:
An effective logo is simple, memorable, timeless, versatile and appropriate.
What better place to start than by looking at the logos of the Fortune 500 companies. These companies spend large sums of cash to polish their brand identities. The vast majority of their logos focus on the company name with simple graphic elements for accent. The prevailing style among most is “elegance in simplicity”. So, if this simplistic approach is good enough for the Fortune 500, I’d say it’s good enough for me!
